How to Replace the Check Valve in a Hydrogen Torch

0Shares

If you're experiencing a low flame on your hydrogen torch, one of the common suspects for this issue is a faulty check valve. The check valve is what regulates the pressurized gases created in the caustic tank to produce a steady flow. These gases travel through the internal hoses to the check valve and once the valve reaches 15 psi, it opens allowing the gas to enter the booster tank and torch.

For this repair, I’m going to show you how to properly replace the check valve. It is very easy to do with a few tools and little time!

Parts and Tools Needed:

  • Check Valve - 1 x for SRA-250 or SRA-350
  • 13/16 Wrench or an adjustable wrench
  • Flat head screwdriver
  • Pair of needle nose pliers

Steps:

1. For safety, always power down the machine by turning it off and unplugging it.

2. To access the valve use your wrench to remove the check valve cap.

3. Next, using a flat head screwdriver remove the threaded brass disk.

4. Then reach inside with the needle nose pliers and carefully remove the check valve.

Note: Make sure the rubber o-ring at the end of the check valve comes out as well.

5. Install the new check valve into the booster block. (O-Ring side first)

6. Now that the new check valve is in, secure it in place with the brass disk by lining up the threads, and screwing it in until snug.
