How to Properly Connect an Electronic Load

0Shares

It may seem like a simple thing but not many people understand how to properly attach a device to an electronic load. The KEL103 electronic load has two terminals: a red one and a black one. The red terminal is for a positive input whereas the black terminal is for the negative input. When attaching a power supply it is important to match the proper leads because it can cause damage to the device. Let's go over this quickly and simply:

  1. Identify the positive and negative points coming from the device you want to connect.
  2. Using a set of test leads connect the negative point to the black port on the KEL103.
  3. Do the same step above to connect the positive point to the red port on the KEL103.

A great feature of this electronic load is the built in detector that emits a small sound if the leads are connected incorrectly.

Note: This does NOT mean it will prevent damage but it does warn the user of an issue and hopefully in time to stop any serious damage.
